Hi All!
I’ve been a machinist for 25 years. I think the manufacturing industry should open their shops to local schools and trade schools. We should invite all schools and trade schools to an “open house” event. The machine shop can put on a presentation with light refreshments and then give the students a tour of the manufacturing facility. The hosting facility should also provide some activities for the students that would stimulate their eagerness to learn more about manufacturing. The best time to attract these students is when they are in grade school, while they still have an eagerness to learn.
